National Film School, Dun Laoghaire, graduate Paul Cotrulia will begin production on a 10 hour sci-fi web series ‘Infinite’ this September in London, with casting currently underway.
The original series, which follows the adventures of a space crew who journey through a black hole into another universe, will be released on YouTube early next year - bypassing traditional distribution channels.
As creative director of Event Films, Mr Cotrulia has already launched the first teaser trailer on YouTube which he plans to follow with a ‘behind the scenes’ video blog featuring production updates beginning this autumn.
The series is being shot on stages in the UK but Mr Cotrulia has hired designers and 3D animators from Ireland to work on the series.
Mr Cotrulia previously directed and produced short horror ‘Masochist’; documentary ‘Space Precinct Legacy’; and ‘Modified’ - a dark science fiction thriller set in an underground world of body modification with technology.
The plot follows lead character Colonel McQuaid, the cyborg commander of a ship called the Prototype, and auditions for the lead roles are set to take place in the first week in August.
Founded in 2011, Event Films is a London-based motion picture financing, production and distribution studio.
