Irish Actress Sarah Bolger
See what else is happening in film & TV industries around the world.

Irish actress Sarah Bolger signs up for ‘Reawakening’
It’s been revealed that Irish actress Sarah Bolger is set to star alongside Olivia Wilde and Donald Glover in the upcoming ‘Reawakening’ from Lionsgate, according to Variety. After starring in ‘The Spiderwick Chronicles’, ‘The Moth Diaries’ and the television series ‘Once Upon A Time’, this is the fourth project that Bolger will work on that deals with supernatural elements. The story centres on a team of research students that discover the secret to bringing subjects back from the dead; their actions however, result in a series of sinister consequences. The film will be directed by David Gelb, director of the critically acclaimed documentary ‘Jiro Dreams of Sushi’ and will also star Mark Duplass and Evan Peters. Luke Dawson and Jeremy Slater penned the script for the film, and production is due to begin shortly. Bolger received her big break when she starred alongside her sister, Emma Bolger, in Jim Sheridan’s semi-autobiographical feature ‘In America’, and she currently has three independent films awaiting releases: ‘Kiss Me’, ‘Crush’, and ‘As Cool as I Am’ in which she stars alongside James Marsden and Claire Danes.

Warner Bros. to develop a film adaptation of ‘Encyclopaedia Brown’
The iconic children’s book series ‘Encyclopaedia Brown’ is set to receive the big screen treatment, according to The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision. The series centres on the son of a local police chief named Leroy Brown who runs his own detective agency out of his family’s garage in smalltown Idaville, Indiana. The books features Brown, who often enlists the help of his friend and “bodyguard” Sally Kimball, solving various petty crimes, often committed by the local bully Bugs Meany, the ‘Encyclopaedia Brown’ equivalent to Sherlock Holmes’ Moriarty. Author Donald J. Sobol wrote around 280 short stories in the 28-book series, starting in 1963 and continuing until his death in 2012. Roy Lee and Howard David Deutsch will produce the big screen adaptation, with the project currently “out to writers”, which indicates that a potential film franchise is in the works. It isn’t the first time that Deutsch has attempted to adapt the Brown series; he produced a short-lived television series in 1989 for HBO, but attempts at a big screen adaptation have been unsuccessful. Lee is currently in production on the animated Lego movie for Warners and recently set up a big screen version of the classic Archie comic books.

Watch the trailer for ‘Prince Avalanche’, starring Paul Rudd and Emile Hirsch
Magnolia Pictures has released a new trailer for the upcoming independent, small-budget comedy-drama feature ‘Prince Avalanche’. The film is directed by David Gordon Green (Pineapple Express, Eastbound & Down) and stars Paul Rudd and Emile Hirsch. Adapted from the 2011 Icelandic film ‘Either Way’ by Hafsteinn Gunnar Sigurdsson, ‘Prince Avalanche’ follows two workers as they spend their summer repainting traffic lines in the middle of a country highway that was ravaged by a wildfire. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January and also screened at SXSW and the 63rd Berlin International Film Festival, where Green was awarded the Silver Bear for Best Director. ‘Prince Avalanche’ will be released in August in America, with an Irish release date hopefully to be announced in the near future.
