‘Leaids mar Dhaids’ - a new six part series that focuses on three young men as they are forced to finally grow up and prepare for fatherhood - has begun filming, based on a concept by Good Company Productions for TG4.
The observational ‘fly on the wall’ entertainment documentary series is a newly commissioned format, co-funded by TG4 and the BAI, which follows the lads as they progress over a four month period from preparing for the arrival to life with their new babies.
The participating fathers-to-be hail from Carraroe, Ballincollig and Rannafast, as the programme takes a wry look at how they handle the responsibility as their partners and wives undergo labour, breastfeeding and the awkward early stages of figuring out how to take care of a baby for the first time.
Will the lads prove to be as helpless as their newborn offspring or will they man-up and rise to the challenge?
Directed by Evan Chamberlain (‘Feirm Factor’, ‘Hector Goes’, ‘Mí na Meala’), the series counts among its production team director of photography Ross O’Callaghan (‘Grand Designs’, ‘Hector Goes’, ‘Rubberbandits’) and John Lowry (‘Hostile Environments’, ‘Pitch Perfect’) on sound.
‘Leaids mar Dhaids’ will air on TG4 this Autumn.
