Jeff Bridges, James Franco, Marion Cotillard, and more to voice ‘The Little Prince’
One of the most popular books of all time, ‘The Little Prince’ by French aristocrat Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, is to receive a big-screen adaptation, and an all-star cast has signed on to lend their voices to the animated feature. According to Heat Vision, Jeff Bridges, James Franco, Rachel McAdams, Paul Giamatti, Benicio Del Toro, and French actress Marion Cotillard have all signed on for the feature, which will be directed by ‘Kung Fu Panda’ director Mark Osborne and will be produced by Onyx Films’ Aton Soumache and Dimitri Rassam. Saint-Exupéry, a laureate of several of France's highest literary awards and a reserve military pilot at the start of World War II, wrote and illustrated the manuscript while exiled in the United States after the fall of France. The story focuses on a pilot who crash-lands in the Sahara desert and comes across a little boy who says he is a prince fallen to Earth from his home on an asteroid. As the pilot works to repair his plane, the young boy tells him fantastical and enchanting stories about other asteroids, a fox, a rose, and narrow-minded adults. The story is revered by millions of readers for its philosophical musings and societal criticism, remarking on the strangeness of the adult world. Translated into more than 250 languages and dialects, the book has been adapted several times since its publication, with Paramount releasing a live-action version back in 1974 and it most recently spawned a French TV series that began airing in 2010. As of yet, there is no information on release date for the film.

Showtime cancels Neil Jordan’s renaissance drama ‘The Borgias’
The popular renaissance drama ‘The Borgias’, created by acclaimed Irish writer/director Neil Jordan, will coming to an end earlier than anticipated. The third season finale, which will air in America on June 16th, will be the show’s final episode. The series was originally envisioned as going for four seasons, with Jordan himself announcing that he wished to finish the series with a two-hour wrap-up film. Additionally, Jordan wasn’t sure he had enough material in mind for a full fourth season, but had still hoped to be able to wrap things up for Pope Alexander (Jeremy Irons), Cesare (François Arnaud) and Lucrezia (Holliday Grainger) with a film. However, Showtime scrapped the ideas for a two-hour film, and it’s thought that the show’s cancellation is due to the above-average production costs. The series has been well-received by critics ever since it first aired in 2011 and has also received many awards and nominations, including a Golden Globe nomination for Irons, and 10 Emmys. It has also maintained consistent viewership ratings, averaging 2.4 million viewers across platforms, while its most recent eighth episode delivered the series highest-rated episode and night this season. However, the series never gained the exposure or interest of a period drama series like HBO’s Game of Thrones; but in spite of that, the series will be ending on a high note, and it will be interesting to see how Jordan bring an end to the story of the Borgia family.
