Fresh from her haunting performance as a vampire in Neil Jordan’s ‘Byzantium’, Saoirse Ronan has been confirmed as a guest of honour at this year’s Galway Film Fleadh and will give this year’s ‘Public Interview’ in the Town Hall theatre on Sunday, 14th July.
As one of Ireland’s most talented actresses and winner of five IFTA awards, Saoirse Ronan has taken Hollywood by storm since her Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress for ‘Atonement’ in 2007.
Roles soon followed in major productions including ‘City of Ember’ (2008); Peter Jackson’s ‘The Lovely Bones’ (2009); ‘The Way Back’ (2010) starring alongside Colin Farrell; ‘Hanna’ (2011) in which she played a child assassin; Kevin McDonald’s ‘How I Live Now’ (2013)’; Wes Anderson’s ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’ (2014); and Ryan Gosling’s ‘How to Catch A Monster’ (2014).
The Galway Film Fleadh will celebrate its 25th anniversary this year, with a six day event from Tuesday 9th July to Sunday 14th July.
Pat Shortt’s ‘recession’ comedy ‘Life’s A Breeze’, directed by Lance Daly and distributed by Wildcard, will premiere at the Galway Film Fleadh before an Irish cinema release on 19th July.
