'Revenant' and 'The Gloaming' director Sean Smith
'Revenant', a modern-day ghost story told from the point of view of a documentary crew, will begin shooting next month in Cavan and Fermanagh.

Currently in pre-production, the film will be Sean Smith’s directorial debut, who also co-wrote the script along with Lauren Murphy. Smith - who also has a feature currently in development with the Irish Film Board, entitled 'Kidsmoke' – will produce the independent feature with line producer Áine Corby and also with Lauren Murphy. The film is funded by a combination of Cavan Arts and IFI funding, as well as private investment.

‘Revenant’ will star Tommy Sharkey as Neil Brady, a faith healer with a dark past. Thirty years after the suspicious death of a 6-year old child in a small town in Co. Cavan, a floundering TV documentary crew on their final assignment renew interest in the scandal. Having spent years living under an assumed name after he was linked to the mysterious death, Brady is tracked down and doggedly pursued by the crew led by ruthless journalist Jean Hannon (Kim McCafferty) and her exasperated producer Aine O'Brien (Deirdre O'Reilly).

Sean Smith and Lauren Murphy also recently completed their first short horror film, ‘The Gloaming’, which centres on a father and son working the land during the Great Famine who are confronted by an ancient evil. ‘The Gloaming’ also contains an original score by Choice Music Prize-winning musician Adrian Crowley.
