Guth Gafa International Documentary Festival, 16-19th May.
The Guth Gafa International Documentary Festival, now in its seventh year, will run from 16-19th May and screen 17 international feature documentaries from 14 countries alongside a selection of Irish feature docs and shorts.

Human rights remain a topic at the heart of the festival with this year's programme shining a spotlight on such issues as human fragility, musical genius, and isolated communities fighting for survival.

Among the international award winners set to screen as part of this year's programme are ‘First Cousin Once Removed’, winner of the Best Feature Documentary competition at IDFA; 'More Than Honey', winner of the Swiss and German Film Prizes for Best Documentary 2013; and 'Blood Brother', winner of the Grand Jury prize for Documentary and an Audience award at Sundance 2013.

This year’s festival will be held for the first time in the village of Malin in the Inishowen peninsula of Donegal between the 16th and 19th May – screening 30 award-winning features and short documentary films from 15 countries.

A selection of films will also be screening in Derry, as part of the festival’s partnership with Derry as City of Culture 2013.

Other highlights include ‘Wrong Time Wrong Place’, which examines the role played by coincidence and fate in the 2011 terrorist attack in Norway; and ‘The Summit’ by Irish filmmaker Nick Ryan, which focuses on the 2008 tragedy that claimed the lives of 11 climbers on K2 including heroic Irish mountaineer Ger McDonnell.

Guth Gafa is supported by the Irish Film Board, the Arts Council of Ireland, Derry-Londonderry City of Culture, Inishowen Partnership, BAI, Fáilte Ireland, Leader, Donegal County Council, Goethe Institut and Associated Newspapers.
