A modern-day western and revenge drama, 'Darkness on the Edge of Town' - written and directed by award-winning Patrick Ryan – is set to shoot in Kerry this summer.
Mr Ryan has already attracted a lot of attention for his blood-drenched screenplay which included being selected for the BBC Writersroom 2012; coming second in the Screenwriting Goldmine Competition; and winning twice at the ENGAGE European Pitching Forum.
Produced by Lagoon Pictures, the film will star Emma Eliza Regan as a troubled teenage sharpshooter who strives to avenge the death of her estranged sister after she is found stabbed to death in a public bathroom.
Ms Eliza Regan recently appeared in in TV3's 'Jack Taylor: Dramatist' and previously landed lead roles in Colin Downey’s dark fantasy ‘The Shadows’ (Emu Productions) and mystery horror ‘Love Eternal’ (Fastnet/Red Lion).
Up-and-coming young actress Emma Willis will co-star, having previously acted in short film 'The Christening'.
Other key crew members include cinematographer Tommy Fitzgerald; editor Conor Fitzpatrick; composer Alex Ryan; producer Lisa Mackintosh, associate producer JJ Sullivan; costume designer Tania Persechini; and make-up artist Julie Caulfield.
Established in 2008 by filmmakers Patrick Ryan and Tommy Fitzgerald, Lagoon Pictures has produced 11 short films along with commercials and music videos.
