IFTN has already spoken to Glenn Leyburn - who directed ‘Good Vibrations’ with wife and filmmaking partner Lisa Barros D’Sa - and star Richard Dormer, who were delighted with the critical reception the film has received to date.
For a film not short of celebrities adding to the chorus of acclaim – including Ron Howard, Mark Kermode and Bobby Gillespie of Primal Scream- ‘Good Vibrations’ may just have won over its most famous fan yet in Bono.
‘Richard Dormer's performance is a transcendent, anarchic, amazing joy! If you love music, movies or being alive you'll love ‘Good Vibrations’! Plus I now have 11 and 13 year old punk rockers at home. Thanks very much, Bono.’
Winner of Best Irish Feature at the Galway Film Fleadh 2012, the film received an Irish release on Friday 29th March and is still playing in cinemas nationwide.
'Good Vibrations' follows the heart-warming and uplifting story of Belfast music legend Terri Hooley, the man responsible for discovering the Undertones and recording Teenage Kicks, giving alternative music a chance to flourish 1970s Belfast.
The film features performances from Liam Cunningham (The Guard, The Wind that Shakes the Barley) Adrian Dunbar (Ashes to Ashes, Mo), Dylan Moran (Run Fatboy Run, Sean of the Dead), Killian Scott (Love/Hate), Andrew Simpson (Notes on a Scandal), Mark Ryder (Albatross) and Kerr Logan (Game of Thrones) as Fergal Sharkey.
It was produced by BBC Films with the participation of the The Irish Film Board and Northern Ireland Screen in association with Immaculate Conception Films, Canderblinks Film, Revolution Films and Treasure Entertainment production.
