Principal photography has begun on transmedia production ‘Brand New-U’, directed and written by Simon Pummel.
The film will shoot for four weeks in London and Dublin and stars Lachlan Nieboer (Into the White, Downton Abbey) and Irish actress Nora Jane Noone (The Magdalene Sisters, The Descent). Set in an alternate reality where other identical versions of people are created, ‘Brand New-U’ focuses on the character of Slater, who searches for the love of his life, Nadia, who has recently gone missing. In an attempt to find her, Slater makes a deal with the organization, Brand New-U, and takes on a new identity. Things start to go awry when the borders between his identities start to blur and Slater must kill his old selves to find the woman he loves.
The film is produced by Janine Marmot of Hot Property Films (who also produced Irish co-production ‘Kelly + Victor’), Conor Barry and John Keville of Irish production company SP Films, and Reinier Selen of Finkel Films. The film is also made in association with Keith Griffiths’ Illumination Films and Finite Films.
The transmedia project will include a feature film, online media, urban projection, and a geo-specific augmented reality. The film is made with the support of the British Film Institute, the Irish Film Board, and the Netherlands Film Fund.
