Chris O’Dowd’s critically acclaimed comedy series ‘Moone Boy’ has been commissioned for a third series – even though the second series is yet to air on television channel Sky1.
Sky also commissioned the second series before the show had even been premiered on television, and with Sky repeating this decision for the third series, it is clear that ‘Moone Boy’ is a valued asset of the broadcaster’s comedy line-up.
O’Dowd, who writes and stars in the show, will also make his directorial debut in the third series. The show follows the adventures of young Roscommon native, Martin Moone (played by David Rawle), who relies on the help of his imaginary friend, Seán (Chris O’Dowd), to help him get through life with his scatter-brained family and the local bullies. ‘Moone Boy’ received five nominations at this year’s IFTAs, winning the award for ‘Best Entertainment Programme’.
Filming will begin on the third series in late 2013.
