07 Mar 2013 : Dylan Newe
Colin Morgan will star in 'Quirke' airing later this year
Principal photography on the 1950’s-set BBC series Quirke will wrap in Dublin tomorrow, March 8 and will continue post-production at Windmill Lane.
The series has been shooting around the capital since its November 19 start date, as exclusively revealed by IFTN, including locations along the canal near Baggot Street, Camden Street and the main set at Clancy Barracks. It stars Gabriel Byrne as Quirke, a Dublin city morgue pathologist, along with Merlin’s Colin Morgan and Aisling Franciosi. The series is adapted from the John Banville novels (written under the pen name of Benjamin Black) by Conor McPherson and Andrew Davies. ‘Quirke’ is a co-production between Element Pictures and Tyrone Productions, with Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe acting as executive producers and Lisa Osborne producing for the BBC.

Windmill Lane studios are handling digital processing and offline cutting with London-based The Look facility and DeLane Lea studios looking after finishing and audio.

Digital rushes processing was done in the Windmill digital lab by colorists Dave Hughes and Matt Branton. Off-line cutting was also completed in Windmill on the first two blocks of the series, of which there will be three. In-house co-ordinator on these at Windmill was Sarah Caraher. Block One has been directed by John Alexander and edited by Roy Sharman, while Jim O’Hanlon has directed Block Two with Úna Ní Dhonghaíle having edited. VFX for Block One has been supervised and is currently a work in progress at Windmill Lane with Tim Morris and Ciaran Crowley. Post-production supervisor in Ireland and UK for the full series is Therese Caldwell.

The series will air later in the year in three blocks, or 90-minute episodes on BBC.
