Former Parallel Films executive producer Mary Callery has been appointed project manager at the Irish Film Board, completing the agency’s new production and development lineup.
The film and TV producer will join the recently appointed Keith Potter and Rory Gilmartin, who are also project managers.
Working for Parallel Films, Callery’s recent project slate includes the ITV drama ‘Thirteen Steps Down’, and feature film ‘The Food Guide to Love’.
Prior to her role at Parallel, Callery was a commissioning editor for RTÉ Drama, where she commissioned shows like ‘Proof’, ‘Bachelor’s Walk’ and ‘The Clinic’.
In further restructuring at the IFB announced today, former production funding staff member Emma Scott has been appointed production and distribution executive. Scott is now responsible for monitoring the agency’s production slate, and will act as the Irish representative for the Eurimages fund.
The two new appointments complete the IFB’s new production and development team.
Speaking of the new appointments, chief executive of the IFB James Hickey said: “We now have an excellent production and development team in place bringing a wide diversity of experience to the roles which will provide great benefit to the Irish film, television and animation industry.”
In 2012, the IFB saw the departure of production executive Alan Maher, who stepped down after six years.
This month, Patrick O’Neill, industry affairs executive, and Andrew Meehan, development executive at the IFB, will both finish up their roles. O’Neill has launched a new distribution company Wildcard Distribution, in association with Fastnet Films, while Meehan will pursue writing projects.
Commenting on her new role, Callery said: “In the time that I have worked in the industry I have seen it grow from strength to strength and it’s a very exciting time to be joining the Irish Film Board. I hope that Irish writers and producers feel they will benefit from the wide range of experience that I have gained both from working as a commissioning editor and as a producer in receipt of funding.”
