The New York Film Academy is holding auditions in Dublin next week for potential students interested in attending the school.
The prestigious academy, which has been practising as a film school for just over 20 years, offers degree programs (Bachelors of Fine Arts and Master of Fine Arts) in filmmaking and acting as well as short term conservatory programmes. All bases of the film industry are covered, filmmaking, screenwriting, producing, digital filmmaking, computer animation and acting.
The academy will hold an open house and auditions in Dublin on Tuesday February 26 and Wednesday February 27. Information sessions will be held on February 27.
Successful alumni include Oscar-winning Irish actor/musician Glen Hansard (Once), American actor and basketball player Shaquille O'Neal (Grown Ups 2) and American actor Paul Dano (There Will Be Blood).
The school is known for its guest lectures, with Andy Garcia, Kevin Spacey, Holly Hunter and Gabriel Byrne all taking part. A number of Hollywood filmmakers have referred their family members to the school, such as Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, Robert Downey Jr and Al Pacino.
The New York Film Academy event will take place February 26 to February 27, at the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel, in Dublin 8. Auditions will be held 5pm to 9pm on February 26, and from 4pm to 7pm on February 27. Information sessions will be held from 7pm to 8pm on February 27.
