BBC Two HD Launching Next Month… BBC Two HD will replace the BBC HD channel from March 26, it has been announced. The HD channel will be available on Sky HD in Ireland, and Freeview HD/YouView, Virgin Media, Freesat HD and BT Vision in other territories. The channel will simply be a HD version of BBC Two, which is available on channel 142 on Sky TV. It will kick off with two new programmes, including Irish-shot ‘The Fall’, starring Northern Irish actors Jamie Dornan and Gerard McCarthy and Dublin actor Emmett J Scanlan. Other BBC Two shows include 'QI' and 'The Hairy Bikers'.

Beyoncé Responsible For HBO’s Highest Ratings In 10 Years… American musician Beyoncé’s documentary ‘Beyoncé: Life Is A Dream’, brought HBO’s ratings to 1.8m, the highest ratings the network has had in 10 years. Beyoncé co-directed the HBO film, which focuses on her career and personal life. It broadcast in the US last Saturday at 9pm. According to online reports, the closest ratings HBO had in comparison was back in 2006, when the Spike Lee-directed ‘When The Levees Broke: A Requiem In Four Acts’ earned ratings of 1.7m.

Ben Frow Commissions First Programme At Channel 5… Former TV3 director of programming Ben Frow has commissioned his first TV show at British broadcaster Channel 5, less than one month into his new role. The British station boss, who replaced Jeff Ford at Channel 5 (Jeff Ford also replaced him at TV3), has commissioned ‘Super Scroungers’, a reality-based show that focuses on dole recipients who claim millions every year for housing and family support. The format will be three hour-long episodes.

If You Watch One Trailer Today… IFTA-winning documentary ‘Mea Maxima Culpa: Silence in the House of God’ is released in Irish cinemas on February 22, and is also available on UPC on demand the same day! Directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Alex Gibney, the documentary is a Northern-Irish co-production and an Element distribution.
