Oscar-winning costume designer Jenny Beavan will give the next National Film School lecture on Tuesday, February 19.
The nine-time Oscar-nominated designer, who won the award in 1985 for her work on period drama ‘A Room with a View’, will address hundreds of filmmaking students in the latest lecture series at the NFS.
In a career which spans more than 30 years, British-born Beavan has collaborated with filmmakers Ismail Merchant and James Ivory many times, on projects including ‘A Room With A View’ and the eight-time Oscar-nominated feature ‘The Remains of the Day’.

Carving a niche for herself in period costume, Beavan’s other credits include ‘The King’s Speech’, ‘Gosford Park’; for which she won a BAFTA; ‘Sense and Sensibility and the recent ‘Sherlock Holmes’ films.
Joining award-winning filmmakers such as Gabriel Byrne, Jim Sheridan, Oliver Stone, Stephen Frears and Neil Jordan, who have all given a public lecture at the NFS, Beavan will take centre stage on Tuesday, February 19 in the Atrium Building at 6pm.
