Andrew Scott & Katie McGrath Begin Filming Channel 4’s ‘Dates’
06 Feb 2013 : By Eva Hall
Andrew Scott & Katie McGrath
Irish actors Andrew Scott and Katie McGrath have begun filming Channel 4 series ‘Dates’ in London.

The nine-part series, helmed by ‘Skins’ writer Bryan Elsley and ‘The Hour’ writer Abi Morgan, follows a number of characters as they embark on first dates.

It is believed Scott’s character, called Christian, will date Sheridan Smith’s (Mrs Biggs) character, a school teacher called Jenny.

It is not yet known what character McGrath will play, but she is expected to go on a date with either Will Mellor (Two Pints of Langer and a Packet of Crisps), Ben Chaplin (The Thin Red Line) or Greg McHugh’s (Fresh Meat) characters.

Also appearing in the series is ‘The Hours’ actress Oona Chaplin, ‘Secret Diary of a Call Girl’ star Gemma Chan, ‘Tyrannosaur’ actress Sian Breckin and ‘The Story of Tracy Beaker's’ Montana Thompson.

Scott, best known for his BAFTA-winning performance in ‘Sherlock’, has recently finished filming Irish feature ‘The Stag’ in Ireland. He is up for an IFTA Award this weekend for his role in ‘Sherlock’.

McGrath, best known for her role as Morgana in BBC series ‘Merlin’, has just been cast in NBC series ‘Dracula’, alongside Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Victoria Smurfit. Shooting is expected to begin on that series in the coming weeks.

‘Dates’ is scheduled to air on Channel 4 this summer.
