Irish documentary ‘The Cause of Progress’ has wrapped production in Cambodia after three years.
The feature documentary, which is set against the backdrop of Cambodia’s political, religious and familial landscapes, is now in post-production, with acclaimed editor Jonathan Oppenheim editing.
The film, which originally began production in 2009, follows the lives of three Cambodians who are caught up in the country’s chaotic and often violent economic progress.
Derry-born director Chris Kelly (Guinness Size Me) is helming the documentary, with Edwina Forkin (Breaking Boundaries) and Marie Caffrey (Cuckoo) producing for Zanzibar Films alongside Christo Hird (The End of the Line) and Danielle Di Giacomo ‘Billy the Kid’.
Oppenheim, who has worked on Oscar-nominated documentaries ‘Streetwise’ and ‘Children Underground’, is currently editing ‘The Cause of Progress’ in time for an expected 2014 release.
Meanwhile, the production team has launched a funding campaign on a crowd sourcing website to complete the final stages of production.
