French Film ‘You Will Be My Son’ To Offer Free Glass Of Vintage Wine… Gilles Legrand’s French feature film ‘You Will Be My Son’ (‘Tu Seras Mon Fils’) will open at the IFI on December 14, and will offer every cinema-goer over the age of 18 a free glass of Château Méaume wine. Independent distributors Swipe Films is bringing the acclaimed feature to Ireland, and is also offering cinema-goers the chance to win an entire case of the vintage wine by tweeting that they have seen the film, and emailing comp@swipefilms.com, before December 21.
No Irish Acts Among Berlin Film Festival Shooting Stars… No Irish actors have been listed as the 2013 Shooting Stars at the Berlin Film Festival. Ten European actors made the cut, hailing from Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Sweden, Slovenia, Romania and the Republic of Kosovo. No Irish or UK actors made the cut for only the second time since the establishment of the list in 1998. Previous Irish Shooting Stars include Antonia Campbell-Hughes (2012); Domhnall Gleeson (2011); Sarah Bolger (2009); Ruth Negga (2006) and Mark O’Halloran (2005).
Sky Atlantic’s ‘Hunderby’ Dominates British Comedy Awards… Comedy series ‘Hunderby’, which is produced by Steve Coogan’s Baby Cow Productions, the same company behind Irish series ‘Moone Boy’, won two awards; Best New Comedy and Best Sitcom; at last night’s Comedy Awards. Jonathan Ross hosted the awards ceremony in the UK, where ‘Moone Boy’ star David Rawle was up for Best Comedy Breakthrough. The award went to British comedienne Morgana Robinson, who stars in Channel 4 show ‘Very Important People’. Lee Mack picked up Male TV Comic while Jack Whitehall was voted King of Comedy.
If you watch one trailer today… Make it sci-fi action feature ‘Pacific Rim’, which stars ‘Sons of Anarchy’ bikers Charlie Hunnam and Ron Perlman. ‘Pan’s Labyrinth’ producer Guillermo del Toro is helming this one, which features a giant alien invasion. It will be released in the summer of 2013.
