Dublin-based transmedia company BeActive is the first production company in the world to be certified in Research, Development and Innovation Management System.
Dublin-based transmedia company BeActive is the first production company in the world to be certified in Research, Development and Innovation Management System.
The company, which has offices in Dublin, London and Lisbon, received the honour for creating transmedia entertainment content for online and offline platforms in acordance with NP 4457:2007 standards.
NP 4457:2007 is a standard for the certification of Research, Development and Innovation management systems, based on a model of innovation supported by the interface and interaction between technological knowledge, organisational knowledge as well as markets and society in general.
Transmedia content has been beActive’s core business since 2003. It has produced a number of mulitplatform projects since, including ‘Beat Girl’, which was produced as a series of webisodes, TV series, a feature film, and a scripted series on Pinterest, and ‘Collider’, which was released in the form of comic books, webisodes, a computer game and a feature film.
The company has also gone on to develop a TV app, and produer Triona Campbell received an Entrepreneur of the Year nomination this year.
Speaking of the recent R&D certification, BeActive’s managing director Nuno Bernardo said: “This certification is a confidence-building mechanism, strengthening our motivation to continuously improve and create the right conditions for new, creative transmedia projects, consequently also raising the quality of our services and products. Being the first production house in the world to take this leap is exciting and it has put the work our team have been doing in relation to R&D, games development and IP development in the spotlight.”
BeActive’s most recent feature ‘Collider’ is currently in post-production in Tangerine in Dublin.
