Two of television’s most renowned cameramen will touch down in Ireland next week to take part in an all-day camcorder and camera manufacturing event in Dublin.

BAFTA-nominated cameraman Mark Moreve, who has captured everything from the making of one of the most famous operas in the world, ‘The Phantom of the Opera’, to ‘The Wire’ star Idris Elba discussing the impact of clubbing on society, will be on hand to demonstrate the new Canon Cinema EOS System.

Moreve, who was nominated for a BAFTA for his work on BBC series ‘A Private Life of a Masterpiece - Rodin’s The Kiss’, will give an insight into his own 20-year career, discussing his life of travel from Mongolia to Argentina, to working on UK homegrown series such as ‘Watchdog’ and ‘Homes under the Hammer’.

Moreve will be joined at the special event, hosted by Camerakit Hire, by multi award-winning cameraman Phil Coates, who will give an audio seminar on Sennheiser Sound. Coates, an accomplished remote location director cameraman, who has worked on expedition-type shows such as Discovery International’s ‘Everest Beyond The Limit’, ‘Blizzard Race To The Pole’ for the BBC, ‘Ice Break Heart’ for Channel 5 and ‘Challenge 8000’ for Channel 4, will give a Q&A after his session.

Both Moreve and Coates, who are based in the UK, will fly in especially for the industry event, which is taking place in Dublin on Tuesday, December 11.

Camerakit, the equipment supply store, is hosting this unique event for the first time in Ireland. The event will mark the first time a number of different manufacturers as well as spokespeople for the products will all attend the same seminar in Dublin.

In addition to Moreve and Coates’ sessions, the latest products from Sony, JVC, Panasonic and Blackmagic Design will all be on display for industry members to interact with and avail of discounts.

Camerakit has secured Ireland’s first look at the long-awaited Blackmagic Design Cinema Camera with EF mount, as well as the first Canon C100 to land in Ireland. Both products are in high demand all over the world.

Also attending the event next Tuesday are Matt Davies and Dave Young, who will give a rundown of Sony’s latest products; Kris Hill, who is on hand for JVC; Alan Head for Panasonic and Nick Millen for Canon.

The event is free to attend but attendees must register for a place before hand by visiting camerakit.ie.
