Gabriel Byrne will give the National Film School lecture at IADT this year, it has been announced.
The 'Usual Suspects' actor will give a public interview in front of IADT students and film fans alike on Monday, December 3. Roger Greene, the programme co-ordinator of the MA in Broadcast Production at IADT, will facilitate the interview.
Byrne is currently filming BBC series ‘Quirke’ in Dublin. The Dublin-born actor is playing pathologist Garrett Quirke in the three-part series which is based on John Banville’s (Benjamin Black) series of novels.
Just this week, it was announced three additional Irish actors were added to the cast; Aisling Franciosi is playing Byrne’s daughter in the series; Stanley Townsend is playing Inspector Hackett and Nick Dunning is playing Malachy Griffin.
Element Pictures and Tyrone Productions are co-producing with the BBC.
Byrne’s lecture, which will mark the 49th in the NFS lecture series, will take place in IADT on Monday, December 3 at 6pm. Previous filmmakers who have taken part include Jim Sheridan, Oliver Stone, Stephen Frears and Neil Jordan.
IADT also announced BAFTA-winning prosthetics and special effects make-up designer Neill Gorton will be on hand to give a public demonstration / lecture at the school on Thursday December 6 at 2pm.
