The Talented Kids Performing Arts School and Agency has announced it will celebrate its 10 year anniversary with a special variety show at the Gaiety Theatre this November.
Established in 2002 by performer and drama/musical theatre coach Maureen V Ward, Talented Kids has given students from the age three to adult the opportunity to train in singing, dancing, acting and performance with classes taught by industry professionals for the last 10 years.
Some well known faces that are currently members of Talented Kids include ‘Death of a Superhero’ and ‘The Hidings’ child actress Holly Gregg and Peter Sexton, who acted in scenes with renowned actors Andy Serkis and Thomas Sangster; Niamh Quirke, who currently plays the role of Rachel Brennan in RTÉ soap ‘Fair City’, and former Carrigstown residents Jenny Kavanagh, who played Cleo, and Susie Power (Dark Touch), who played Eleanor Daly. Other students have appeared in period drama ‘The Tudors’, RTÉ’s ‘The Toy Show’ as well as feature film ‘Albert Nobbs’ in which Rhys Burke featured alongside Glenn Close.
The November show will showcase all the current Talented Kids’ students, current students as well as some of its 'celeb' students, including IFTA and Monte Carlo TV + Film Awards-ominated actress Siobhán Shanahan (Love/Hate, Prosperity). The show will feature original choreography, modelling, drama pieces as well as vocal talent. Maureen V Ward, along with Johnny Ward (Dollhouse, This Must Be The Place), Susan Ward (Ella Enchanted), Lisa McGrath, Tara Landers and Niamh Fitzpatrick have all contributed to the development of the show.
The school’s motto is that its students’ happiness is “most important”. It says motivating students through “fun, encouragement and in a happy and fulfilling atmosphere” will help them reach the best of their abilities.
The practice sessions for the variety show resulted in the agency recommencing classes at the end of August, with the first batch of students back in training last Friday (August 24). Today, (Wednesday August 28) students will continue to participate in singing classes, musical theatre, drama and modeling. Classes take place in Naas, Kilcullen and Clondalkin. With three groups aged between three to adult, the students can also avail of the Talented Kids Agency, which represents kids, or the MVW Talent Agency, which represents adults on RTÉ programmes such as ‘Fair City’, RTÉ shows, feature films, Musicals, Pantomimes, TV and RADIO Commercials and photoshoots.
