BBC series ‘Vexed’, which was shot in Dublin over 12 weeks, returned to screens last Wednesday (August 1) to impressive ratings of 1.5 million, despite going head to head with Olympics coverage on BBC One.

The TV production featured a strong Irish crew, including directors Ian Fitzgibbon and Kieron J Walsh, as well as post house Windmill Lane Pictures. It pulled in an audience share average of 6.1 per cent for the first episode of its second series.

Full sound and picture post production was recently completed on the second series of ‘Vexed’ at Windmill Lane in Dublin. Tony Cranstoun edited the first block and Colin Fair cut the second block. All editing was done in house at Windmill with Fiona Starogardski (Fade Street, Very Extremely Dangerous) and Allyn Quigley (Saving the Titanic, The Moth Diaries) assisting.

Sound supervisor Nikki Moss (Good Vibrations, My Brothers) and dialogue editor Fionan Higgins (Sinbad, Love/Hate) worked with Windmill dubbing mixers Mark Henry (Saving the Titanic, Love/Hate) and Dean Jones (Love/Hate, 13 Steps Down) to pull together the mixes for the series. Matt Branton (Love/Hate, Charlie Casanova) was the colourist.

The final online and credits were pulled together in Avid DS by online editor Robbie O’Farrell (Titanic Blood and Steel, Treasure Island).

‘Vexed’, a comedic detective drama which sees two cops who have opposite views on everything from love to police work partner up, began shooting in Dublin last January, with a number of Irish crew on board. Ian Fitzgibbon (Death of a Superhero) directed the first block and Kieron J Walsh (Jump) directed the second block. It was a co-production between Ireland’s Newgrange Pictures and UK-based Eleventh Hour. Lesley McKimm and Jackie Larkin produced for Newgrange with Jill Green and Eve Gutierrez of Eleventh Hour. Peter Robertson (Garage) was the DoP.

The series stars Toby Stephens (Jane Eyre) as D.I. Jack Armstrong and Miranda Raison (Spooks) as D.I. Filming wrapped in Dublin in April.
