Sky eyes move into distribution…BSkyB is reportedly looking into launching an in-house distribution arm as it looks to take advantage of its increased spending on original content, according to Broadcast. The move would help the company make more earnings from productions such as ‘Sinbad,’ which are largely produced by UK independent producers. Sky has significantly increased its spending on British comedy and drama, with plans to spend up to €760m on original content by 2014.
Alex Mahon to replace Elisabeth Murdoch at Shine… Elisabeth Murdoch is to stand down from running global production company and distributor Shine Group, which operates in the US, UK, Europe and Australia, according to Variety. Alex Mahon, managing director of Shine TV since 2006, will replace her. Company founder Murdoch has held the CEO role since Shine opened in 2001 and will remain on board as chairman. Shine Group's companies include Dragonfly, Kudos and Princess Productions.
