Dublin-born director John Carney has added more A-list talent to the cast of his upcoming feature ‘Can a Song Save Your Life?’
British comic James Corden has been added to the cast along with Maroon 5 frontman and ‘The Voice’ (US) coach Adam Levine. As reported on IFTN last month, Oscar-nominees Keira Knightley, Hailee Steinfeld and Mark Ruffalo have already been cast.
Fresh from his Tony Award win earlier this month for ‘One Man, Two Guvnors’, Corden is currently doing the rounds in the States, having also landed the lead role as ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ 2007 winner Paul Potts in a biopic about the opera singer’s life.
Carney, who shot to worldwide fame following the release of his hit Oscar-winning feature ‘Once’ in 2006, was also celebrating after the Tony Awards as ‘Once’, the Broadway version, scooped eight awards .
‘Knocked Up’ filmmaker Judd Apatow is set to produce ‘Can A Song Save Your Life?’, which will see Knightley’s character move to New York with her fellow aspiring musician boyfriend, only to be dumped when he makes it in the industry. Corden will play Knightley’s best friend.
Shooting is scheduled to begin in New York next month.
