Firebrand To Produce ‘Bullying’ And ‘Teen Mums’ Documentaries For RTÉ
25 May 2012 : By Steve Cummins
Clinical Psychologist David Coleman
Firebrand productions are to produce two factual documentaries on the issues of bullying and teenage mothers for RTÉ.

The Dublin-based production company are currently in production on ‘Bullying’ (working title), a new three-part documentary series with clinical psychologist David Coleman, which is being directed by Edel O'Brien (Abhainn: An Fhéil) and producer Mark Warren (Teens In The Wild).

‘Bullying’ is currently being filmed on-location around Ireland with the shoot set to continue until the end of June. The documentary aims to illustrate the traumatic impact bullying can have on those who are targeted, the helplessness of the onlookers and the cold, uncaring contempt of the bully. Each of the three parts to the series will be 40 minutes long.

Firebrand are also in pre-production on ‘Teen Mums’ (working title), which will consist of two 40-minute episodes documenting teenage mothers.

Paula Rouse (Franc's DIY Brides) is directing and Christine Thornton (Franc's DIY Brides) is producing. Thornton and Warren, both founders of Firebrand, will also executive produce both projects which have been funded by RTÉ.

‘Bullying’ will go into post-production at Egg in Dublin with editor Guy Montgomery (CHECK). The three-part series is due to air in October.

‘Teen Mums’ will begin shooting early next month with the shoot set to continue until October. Post-production will be carried out at Piranha Bar in Dublin with the series set to go to air on RTÉ.
