Screentime ShinAwil Prepares Second Series of 'Masterchef'

Screentime ShinAwil is currently in pre-production of a second series of popular television format ‘MasterChef’ for RTÉ.

The second series of the reality television show presented by Michelin-starred chef Dylan McGrath and top restaurateur Nick Munier is currently seeking applicants to take part in the new series, which will begin filming in mid-July.

The series will be made-up of 12 episodes each 52 minutes long and will see 16 contestants tasked with cooking a gourmet, three-course meal in under two hours. The winner of each episode will progress through heats until Ireland’s ‘MasterChef’ is crowned at the end of the series with a prize of €25,000.

Once gain, the show’s series producer is Lynda McQuaid (Fame: The Musical) and the seven week shoot will begin in mid-July until the end of August with the series set to be broadcast in the autumn.

Further crew details, including the series’ director, will be announced by Screentime ShinAwil next week.

Post-production on the series will be carried out by Dublin-based post house, Piranha Bar.

The second series was commissioned by Eddie Doyle who is commissioning editor of RTÉ Two, with Tonyia Dowling as assistant commissioning editor. The original series had been commissioned by Grainne McAleer.

Those interested in appearing on the show have just under two weeks to apply for a chance to take part in the series. Successful applicants will compete against the best amateur cooks in the country to gain a place on the hit TV series. The closing date for applications is May 28 with full details available on the RTÉ website.

Speaking about the new series executive producer, Larry Bass: “We want to hear from everyone in Ireland who thinks they have what it takes to be the next MasterChef champion. Last year’s series was a huge hit and really captured the public imagination. This year we expect it to be even bigger and better! We are looking for brilliant amateur cooks who will be available to take part in a busy filming schedule over this summer.”
