Stars Alfred Molina and Ned Dennehy
Irish director Aisling Walsh’s BBC television drama ‘Loving Miss Hatto’ is due to wrap filming this Saturday (April 28) following a four-week shoot in Ireland. The €2m BBC drama, produced by Ireland’s Octagon Films (The Tudors) and Britain’s Left Bank Films, was shot on-location in Dublin and Wicklow.

It will now go into post production in Dublin post house Screen Scene, who will look after all picture, sound and visual effects.

’Loving Miss Hatto’ tells the story of the greatest fraud in the classical music world and how a married couple in the 1970s was able to pull it off. It focuses on pianist Joyce Hatto, her relationship with her husband and the controversial recordings that made her famous late in life.

Joyce Hatto is played by Francesca Annis (The Libertine), while Alfred Molina (Spiderman 2) plays her husband Barrie. Other cast members include Rory Kinnear (Quantum Of Solace, Skyfall), who plays young Barrie and Maimie McCoy (Wallander, The Libertine), who plays young Joyce.

Ned Dennehy (Sherlock Homes, Titantic: Blood and Steel) is the lead Irish cast member with a number of smaller parts on the drama played by Irish actors and actresses.

Aside from Walsh, key Irish crew on the drama include IFTA winner Anna Rackard (Stella Days) as production designer; costume designer Alison Byrne (When Harvey Met Bob, The Take) and first assistant director Liz Gill (Goldfish Memory, Bloody Sunday).

Jane McNally (Spin The Bottle, King Arthur) is the line producer, hair designer is Dee Corcoran (King Arthur, In The Name Of The Father) and Morna Ferguson (In America, The Guard) is the make up designer. The drama’s score will be composed by Niall Byrne (Parked).

Shot entirely in Ireland, the drama used locations in Bray, Co Wicklow, and the Dublin suburbs of Dalkey, Cabinteely and Booterstown, as well as the National Concert Hall in the city centre.

‘Loving Miss Hatto’ is produced by Radford Neville (The Borrowers), with Octagon Films’ James Flynn co-producing. Andy Harris is the executive producer. The drama has received financial support from the Irish Film Board, who awarded it €90,000 last December. ‘Loving Miss Hatto’ is expected to be aired on the BBC later this year.
