‘Game of Thrones’ makes a highly-anticipated return to Sky Atlantic tonight when the Irish premiere of season two airs. The fantasy adventure, which was filmed on location in the Paint Hall Film Studio in Belfast, will air at 9.00pm, just 24 hours after its US premiere. Among the returning cast members is Irish IFTA Award-winning actor Aidan Gillen (Love/Hate), while Dublin-born Liam Cunningham (The Guard) has joined the impressive list for season two.
Based on the best-selling book ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ by George R.R. Martin, season two promises to be just as bloodthirsty and vengeful as season one. ‘Game of Thrones’ is broadcast in over 60 countries, and holds the highest record of downloads and DVD sales in its first week of release for HBO. Northern Ireland Screen, Invest NI and European Regional Development Fund contributed to the funding of the hit series.
Sky Atlantic are inviting hardcore fans to join them in a special Twitter event via the online social networking site to discuss, debate and dig deep into the first returning episode.
