The deadline for feature and documentary submissions for the 24th Galway Film Fleadh (10 - 15 July) is fast approaching with festival organisers requesting receipt of all required materials by Friday March 23rd.
There are six feature film Award categories:
- Best Irish First Feature: Only Irish dramatic films by a first time director are eligible for this category. International productions will be considered if the Director is Irish.
- Best International First Feature: Any feature length dramatic film by a first time director are eligible for this category.
- Best Irish Feature: Irish films from new and established filmmakers are eligible.
- Best International Feature: International films from new and established filmmakers are eligible.
- Best Irish Feature Documentary: Irish documentary films from new and established filmmakers are eligible.
- Best International Feature Documentary: International documentary films from new and established filmmakers are eligible.
Short film submission deadline is Friday May 11th with six competition awards
- The Tiernan McBride Award for Best Short Drama*
- GFF Best Debut Short Drama
- The James Horgan Award for Best Short Animation*
- GFF Best Debut Short Animation
- GFF Best Documentary Short
- The Donal Gilligan Award for Best Cinematography in a Short Film
*Eligible for Oscar consideration
Winners of the 23rd Galway Film Fleadh included the IFTA winning films 'The Guard' and 'Bernadette: Notes on a political Journey.
