Irish actor Michael Fassbender (Shame, Hunger) and Irish writer Ronan Bennett (Public Enemies) have reportedly teamed up to develop a new feature film production about legendary celtic warrior ‘Cúchulainn’, with Fassbender himself playing the lead role.
Variety says the story will be set in Northern Ireland and based on the Ulster Cycle, a series of legendary Irish tales which date back to the 8th century, the most famous of which is the Cattle Raid of Cooley. At the recent Irish Film & Television Awards in Dublin where the star picked up the Best Actor IFTA, Michael Fassbender hinted at his desire to produce a project in Ireland saying “we’ve got good lineage and it would be nice to see more films being made here, that’s for sure.”
‘Cúchulainn’ has been developed by the duo’s London based production outfit Finn McCool Films.
