Irish director Phil Harrison (Even Gods, The Birds Like) is starting principal photography on a feature film called ‘The Good Man’ starring Irish actor Aidan Gillen (Love/Hate, Game of Thrones).
‘The Good Man’ is set in Belfast and South Africa and will be shot in both countries using local crew. The story follows the intertwining lives of a young Irish banker, Michael to be played by Gillen and Sifiso, a teenager in a South African township. Their lives are worlds apart, but echoes of each are felt in the other as the film examines what post-conflict societies mean for individuals in terms of personal responsibility, opportunities and freedoms.
The story was written by Harrison, who will also direct. A low budget film, it was funded through the sale of shares in the film and backed by Northern Ireland Screen is being produced by Phil’s own production company Manifesto Films. Producer for the project is Susan Picken (Waverly) and DOP is Angus Mitchell (Even Gods, Grand Mal). Irish casting was done by Jude Shervin has worked for the Belfast Film Festival in the past and finance management will be handled by Stephen Orr (Duke Special, The Amazing Pilots).
