This year’s winners of Darklight Film Festival have been unveiled. The festival celebrates independent, DIY, low or no budget films and artist films.
Abel Kavanagh’s ‘Laberinto Verde’ took home the Spirit of Darklight award. ‘Laberinto Verde’ looks at the debate surrounding the coca leaf at a time of geopolitical shift in South American.
The Best Documentary went to Daniel Lucceshi and Alex Ramseyer-Bache’s ‘We Are Poets’ which follows six young poets over the course of a year as they are chosen to represent the UK in Brave New Voices, poetry slam competition in the U.S.
‘I’m Fine Thanks’ an animation directed by Eamonn O’Neill (My Day, On The Quiet) took home the prize for best Animation. Best Short went to ‘Doyle’ by Alan Early (Elephant Shoe, Parklife)
The Europe 2020 Competition a Darklight and European Commission sponsored award for online short filmmaking went to Dan Dalton for his film ‘2020 and Beyond’, which showed what the future may be like. Runner up in the category was Jordan Ballantine (Spare Change?, Lovely Girl) with ‘Europe 2020’
