‘Pat Collins’ Feature Film ‘Silence’ in Post Production’ ‘Silence’, a South Wind Blows and Harvest Films Production, has finished principal photography and is gone into post production at EMC Post. Shot in May 2011, for IFTA award winning director Pat Collins (John Mc Gahern: A Private World) and producer Tina Moran (Other Voices) the film was the culmination of an idea and an extensive collaborative process between Collins, his wife Sharon Wholley, and Donegal writer and film-maker Eoghan Mac Giolla Bhride (An Teanga).

Eoghan, played by Mac Giolla Bhride, is a sound recordist who is returning to Ireland for the first time in 15 years. He has been given an unusual task, to find and record places without man-made sound. His journey takes him away from towns and villages, into remote terrain, to places free from the thumb-print of man.

Shooting commenced in May on locations in Berlin, Cork, Clare, Galway, Mayo and Donegal, where Collins sought out locations which had rarely if ever featured in films in the past.

‘Silence’ is being edited by Tadhg O’Sullivan (About Beauty), with Richard Kendrick (An Crisis) as director of photography.

The project was funded through the Irish Film Board, the Broadcasting Authority Ireland, RTÉ and tax relief scheme Section 481.
