Irish-Welsh animated co-production aired today with simultaneous broadcasts on RTÉjr (Ireland), BBC Cbeebies (England), BBC Alba (Scotland) and S4/C (Wales) at 10.55am. Co-produced by Dublin’s Kavaleer Productions and Welsh animation company Dinamo Productions, the 26 part series is the first collaboration between the four broadcasters.

Each episode is introduced by a young boy named Ben who opens his magical pop-up book to look for his friends. Once opened, we enter ‘The Abadas’ world where it’s playtime for the adventurers Ela the Fox, Hari the Hippo and Seren the Bat who help children solve a highly visual word game by engaging them through song, dance and comedy.
Shelia DeCourcy, Commissioning Editor Young Peoples, RTÉ Television said “The Abadas is stylish, sweet, fun and educational and will be loved by RTÉjr viewers. The series has been strengthened through the close collaboration with our Public Services Broadcasting neighbours in Wales, Scotland and England and will have resonance, I believe, right across the pre-school world.”
The series is produced by Siwan Jobbins for Dinamo Productions and Gary Timpson (Garth & Bev) for the Dublin Digital Hub based Kavaleer productions. The director is Owen Stickler (animator, Cnex).
