Kian Egan, Sharon Corr, Brian Kennedy and former singer of The Blizzards, Bressie are to act as coaches on Screentime ShinAwiL’s/RTÉ ‘The Voice’.
The four coaches join previously announced presenters Kathryn Thomas and Eoghan McDermott on the new talent competition, which offers a unique twist on the traditional model as celebrity coaches pick a team of singers without seeing them, based purely on the quality of their voice.
Executive Producer on the show, Larry Bass spoke about the role of ‘The Voice’ coaches to IFTN earlier this month saying that “This isn’t a job for record producers or managers or journalists. We need coaches who will be able to act as mentors for the talent.” This is reflected in the choice of coaches, all who have had successful careers as singers, Kian Egan with Westlife, Sharon Corr with The Corrs, Bressie (formerly of The Blizzards) and singer/songwriter Brian Kennedy. The winner of ‘The Voice’ will win a recording contract with Universal Music.
The show is based on ‘The Voice’ format, originally created by John de Mol’s Talpa Media (Big Brother) and has already had successfully runs in Holland and the US.
Executive producer of ‘The Voice’ is ShinAwil’s Larry Bass (Masterchef, The Apprentice) and series producer and director is Lynda McQuaid (Fame: The Musical)
’The Voice’ will hit the small screen on RTÉ One in early 2012.
