Filming is about to begin on director Rufus Norris’ debut feature ‘Broken’ - which starts Irish actor Cillian Murphy and is adapted by Irish Screenwriter Mark O’Rowe. Cameras roll October 17th in the UK.
The cast alongside Murphy (Inception, The Dark Knight) includes Tim Roth (Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs), Rory Kinnear (Quantum of Solace), Robert Emms (War Hors), Zana Marjanovic (In the Land of Blood and Honey), Bill Milner (Son of Rambo, I, Anna) and newcomer Eloise Laurence.
IFTA winning screenwriter Mark O’Rowe (Boy A, Intermission) has adapted the screenplay from Daniel Clay’s novel of the same name which tells the story of an 11 year old girl living in North London, who witnesses a violent attack which bringing chaos to her life.
It will be directed by first time feature and experienced theatre director Rufus Norris.
The Cuba Pictures Production has producers Dixie Linder, Nick Marston, Tally Garner and Bill Kenwright and the film received support from BBC Films, the BFI Film Fund, Lip Sync and Bill Kenwright Ltd.

Marston and Garner’s Cuba Pictures have worked with O’Rowe previously on John Crowley’s ‘Boy A’. Filming will take place on ‘Broken’ over a five week period. Cillian Murphy can be seen in upcoming Ripple World Pictures/ Magnet Films psychological thriller ‘Retreat’ alongside Thandie Newton (RocknRolla, Crash) and Jamie Bell (Billy Elliot, Jumper), which is release on October 14th.
