Irish animation company behind the Oscar nominated feature ‘The Secret of Kells’, Cartoon Saloon, are producing hand drawn animation for the live-action and animation hybrid show ‘The Aquabats Super Show!’
Cartoon Saloon are creating four minutes of animation for each half hour episode of the show, which will be broadcast by US broadcaster The Hub in 2012.
US production companies behind the series are The Magic Store and Fremantle Media, and it was created by Christian Jacobs and Scott Schultz (Yo Gabba Gabba!). The thirteen part series is based on the superhero mythology of The Aquabats, a real-life Californian rock band, which is fronted by series show co-creator Christian Jacobs. The show follows the superhero musical group as they continue on their quest to vanquish evil with rock n’ roll.
Sean McCarron (Song of the Sea) is taking the helm of the animation production in Cartoon Saloon, while Jason de Villiers (Drum Heads) is director of the overall show.
Producer for the live-action is Nate Rogers, with Ross Murray producing the animated segment of the show for Cartoon Saloon. Work on the project began in Cartoon Saloon in April and will continue until Christmas.
Windmill Lane are doing VFX, grading, online and sound design, editing and mix for 'The Aquabats'
It will be broadcast on American broadcaster the Hub in 2012.
