27 Sep 2011 :
John McDonnell
Irish participants Audrey Sheils and John McDonnell are among the fifteen chosen participants at Inside Pictures training and development programme.

Now in its eighth year, Inside Pictures training and development programme, includes Irish participants John McDonnell (Wake Wood, Outcast), Producer at Fantastic Films and Audrey Sheils, Head of Distribution at Element Pictures. The Irish participants are among the 15 taking part in the programme, with other participants from the UK, France, Holland, Denmark, Belgium and Germany.

This is the first year that the programme has been open to participants outside of the UK. In April of this year, FÁS Screen Training Ireland and the Irish Film Board collaborated with Inside Pictures to offer support of 80% of course fees for up to two eligible and experienced Irish applicants. The programme takes a practical approach to the business side of the film industry and includes workshops/seminars on strategy, negotiation, networking and leadership.

There are three intensive modules on the programme, which take place in London and Los Angeles between June and December 2011. It boasts an impressive range of speakers including Element Pictures Ed Guiney, writer/director Asif Kapadia (Senna), Wild Bunch’s Vincent Grimond and Paramount President Andrew Cripps.

Associated Observers of the programme include Katie Holly of Blinder Films, Stephen McDonagh, Head of Coproduction Funding at BBC Worldwide and Martha O’Neill, MD and Producer at Wildfire Films.

The film business training programme is run by Qwerty Pictures and the National Film and Television School. This is the first year the programme has been open to all member of the EU. It is funded by MEDIA and Skillset.
