Monster Entertainment Completes 'I'm a Monster'

Monster Entertainment, formerly Monster Distributes, have completed production on pre-school animated series ‘I’m a Monster’ and are currently in production with ‘I’m a Creepy Crawly’ series which is in the pilot stage.

‘I’m a Monster’ is a 52x2 minute animated series, which is produced by Deirdre Barry and Richard Morss. The series will be shown on RTÉ and will feature 52 monsters who will talk to camera and introduce us to their worlds. ‘I’m a Monster’ is directed by Alistair McIlwain and is financed by RTÉ, the Irish Film Board, S481, Media and international pre-sales. The 2D computer-generated animation has already pre-sold to RTÉ, ABC Australia, DR Denmark, Knowledge Network Canada and BBC Canada, YLE Finland and Noga Israel.

Monster Entertainment is also at the pilot stage with 52x2 minute pre-school animated series ‘I’m a Creepy Crawly’, which Deirdre Barry will produce and Andrew Crotty will direct. It will be produced at Monster Entertainment’s new Dublin animation studio.

Monster have licensed the rights to both series from Brown Bag Films and Andrew Fitzpatrick is executive producer for both titles. Both series will screen at MIPCOM Junior, which is taking place October 1st and 2nd.

In other news, Monster Entertainment have also teamed up with CinemaLive to broadcast ‘Other Voices’ live to cinemas in Ireland and the UK this December. South Wind Blows ‘Other Voices’ is an eclectic music programme which features live performances and interview with some of the biggest names in music, with artists such as The National, Snow Patrol and Amy Winehouse all featuring in past series.

The tenth series of ‘Other Voice’ will be filmed in St. James Church Dingle this December and will broadcast to UK and Irish cinemas via satellite. Directed by Maurice Linnane and produced by Tina Moran of South Wind Blows, Monster have already sold the series to GlassBOX Television in Canada for AUX TV, RTÉ, Globosat Brazil, DLA Latin America and The Arts Channel New Zealand as well as 12 airlines including BA, Continental, Lufthansa, Emirates, Swiss and Aer Lingus.

Monster Distributors have recently rebranded as Monster Entertainment to reflect their new focus as a fully integrated entertainment company encompassing finance, production, co-production, distribution, brand management and multimedia development for mobile platforms. The new company will launch at MIPCOM.

’I’m a Monster’ can be seen on RTÉ as part of the autumn broadcast schedule and ‘Other Voices’ can be seen in cinemas this December.
