Now in its eighth year, the San Francisco Irish Film Festival will screen ten Irish independent films at the Roxie Film Center this September. Ian Power’s ‘Runway’ will open the festival ahead of its upcoming US release. ‘The Runway’ is inspired by the real life story of a South American plane that crashed in a small town in county Cork.
Galway Film Fleadh winning feature ‘Parked’ will also screen at the festival. Starring Colm Meaney and Colin Morgan, it tells the story of an unlikely friendship between two ‘neighbours’ living in their cars.
Other Irish films to be screened include inner-city doc ‘Pyjama Girls’ and a collection of Irish shorts at Magners & Shorts.
Irish director Paddy Breathnach will present his classic ‘I Went Down’ at the festival and three Northern Ireland focused films - Jim Sheridan’s ‘In the Name of the Father’, Steve McQueen’s ‘Hunger’ and Paul Greengrass’s ‘Bloody Sunday’ – which will close the Festival on Sunday September 25th.
The San Francisco Irish Film Festival will take place from September 22nd – 25th at the Roxie Film Center. For more information, please visit www.sfirishfilm.com.
