The Screen Directors Guild of Ireland (SDGI) and the Irish Film Institute (IFI) are set to host an event which focuses on the collaboration between composer and director entitled The Melody of Film.
Leading Irish Composer Stephen Rennicks and Irish director Paddy Breathnach (I Went Down, Man About Dog) will be studying a selection of scenes and focusing on the collaborative process between director and composer in filmmaking. Stephen Rennicks has worked as a composer of such films as ‘Garage’, ‘The Pipe’ and ‘Adam and Paul’. Together they will discuss the process that takes place between filmmaker and composer.
Birch Hamilton, SDGI’s Executive Director says “The collaboration between director and composer is a fascinating topic which should inspire not only the audiovisual community but anyone interested in film and music. By hosting this event in the IFI we give members of the public the opportunity to join the conversation.”
‘The Melody of Film’ will take place on September 7th at 19.30 in the Irish Film Institute, Eustace Street, Dublin 2. The event is free but ticketed. Contact the IFI Box Office on 01 6793477 to book tickets.
