Northern Irish Teenager Damian McGinty, aged 18, was announced joint winner of American reality television series ‘The Glee Project’ and will now appear in seven episodes of the hit musical television series ‘Glee’.
Damian was a contestant on Oxygen’s ‘The Glee Project’ which aimed to find a new star for the show. The Final of ‘The Glee Project’ aired on Sunday August 21st and the Derry born teenager was announced joint winner with Samuel Larsen, by one of the creator’s of ‘Glee’, Ryan Murphy. He was chosen from 40,000 hopefuls through online auditions.
It is expected that Damian will play the role an Irish exchange student on the musical show in the upcoming third series of ‘Glee’. Damian was previously a member of Irish vocal group ‘Celtic Thunder’.
‘Glee’ was created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan, who executive produce alongside Ian Brennan. Producers on the musical high school series are Alexis Marion Woodall, Michael Novick and Kenneth Silverstein. Damian can be seen on the third series, which will be shown on Sky 1 HD later this year.
