RTÉ Regional and Diversity Programming are looking for proposals for programmes that focus on the impact science has on contemporary life in Ireland. They are looking for concepts and formats that transform scientific understanding of the world into stories that will attract and engage prime-time audiences.
Transmission will be post watershed on RTÉ One, and the budget is for discussion depending on format and duration and for potential BAI funding. The programmes proposed should take relevant scientific knowledge and present it to the audience in stimulating, interesting and maybe provocative ways.
The programmes must have an element of storytelling that the science-related information and understanding can be woven into. RTÉ regional and diversity programming are open to a wide range of proposals on the implications of scientific development for how we live, what we eat, how we dress, how we travel, communicate and entertain and anything else that matters.
They do not want programmes on the history of science, biographies of scientist, laboratory life or expositions of scientific concepts.
Producers should submit ideas to the eCommissioning system at https://e-commissioning.rte.ie/SWIFT.Web/skins/rte/login.aspx under the programme category ‘Regional & Diversity – Science’ before close of business on Wednesday 28th September, 2011.
