Dublin Central School of Acting has announced a new two day intensive course which aims to equip participants with an insight into acting as a profession, as well as a general introduction into the craft of acting.
The bootcamp style course is run over a weekend with topics covered including voice and breathing techniques, audition and interview techniques, acting for stage, acting for camera, character interpretation, script interpretation, improvisation and advice/feedback on pursuing a professional career.
The ‘Intensive Introduction to Acting’ aims to show actors how to prepare for auditions and jobs, and to avoid the common pitfalls. Not only will techniques and technical stage and shot terms be explained to participants, but they will also cover the fundamental business of the acting business, including how to market yourself - from CV and photos to agents, equity and contracts.
The course is suitable for newcomers trying to break into the industry, models who wish to improve audition techniques, those who are out of the business and need a refresher course or for seasoned amateurs who want to move to the next level. It will be directed by experienced tutors including professional casting director Gillian Reynolds, who has helped cast for top productions including ITV series ‘Primeval’ as well as having taught drama at The Academy Drama School and Rose Bruford College.
The course aims to give high quality at an affordable price of just €89 for the two days. The course will run bi-monthly with the first bootcamp running on Saturday September 3rd (10.00-5.30) and Sunday September 4th (11.30-5.30). The second September bootcamp will take place Sept 24th and 25th.
