The Shortlist of Graduates for the fifth annual ‘Best in Show’ Internship competition was announced yesterday. The competition, run by the Dublin Digital Hub Development Agency, sees digital media and creative graduates enter their work to compete for internships in leading Irish companies.
The shortlist of 45 students includes talent from most major Irish colleges and institutes including Ballyfermot College of Further Education, The National Film School at IADT, Dun Laoghaire, IT Tallaght, DCU, Digital Skills Academy, NCAD, NUI Galway and the Limerick School of Art and Design. The 2011 competition received twice as many entries compared to 2010.
The shortlist is divided into five categories Animation; Audio/Music Production; Digital Design, Multimedia; and Film/Video Production. Winners will be chosen from each category to take part in internships with leading Irish companies Red Dog, Areaman Productions, Igloo Animations, payByMobile, the Tobacco Free Research Institute, Athena Media, and the Riviera Media Group. An administrative internship at The Digital Hub will also be offered to a competing graduate from community education centre, D8CEC.
Director of Marketing and Strategy with the Digital Hub Development Agency, Dr. Stephen Brennan said “We know from the success enjoyed by finalists in previous years that these internships give them a valuable edge when it comes to looking for full-time employment: last year, three of the winners went on to work on a more long-term basis with the companies where they completed their ‘Best in Show’ placements.”
