Visual Impact Ireland have supplied facilities for new Irish productions ‘Franc’s DIY Brides’, ‘Man on a Mission’ and ‘The G Team’.
The company recently equipped Firebrand Production’s ‘Franc’s DIY Brides’ with two tapeless Sony EX1’s and a HD card camera. The 6x30 minute series follows brides and their fiancés as they prepare for their wedding day while being closely mentored by Ireland’s leading wedding expert ‘Franc’. Franc (Wedding Planners, Brides of Franc) will be teaching the six Brides and Grooms the money saving tricks of the trade.
Produced by Christine Thornton (Teens in the Wild) and directed by Paula Rouse (The School), ‘Franc’s DIY Brides’ began filming in Cork three weeks ago. It will continue filming on locations throughout Ireland as they follow six couples journey’s up the aisle, until the final wedding which takes place in December. The series will be edited by Michael O’Sullivan of Tangerine and will air in January 2012.
Visual Impact Ireland have also hired Card based PMW 350’s to Motive Television’s 52 minute documentary ‘Man on a Mission’. Produced by Anne McLoughlin (J1 Summer) and James D’Alton (The Irish of 9/11), the documentary tells the story of Irish brother Colm O’Connell who coaches long-distance runners in Kenya. The doc was directed by Maurice Sweeney (Cromwell in Ireland), with Emmet Harte (Anonymous) as Director of Photography. It was filmed in Kenya in April and will be broadcast on Setanta this November.
Visual Impact will also be supplying their wares to Adare Productions ‘The G Team’. Executive and Series Producer on ‘The G Team’ is Brian Graham (Feis and Blood), with Ciaran Gallagher and Tom Evans (The Afternoon Show) producing and directing.
The 10x1 hour series will feature non-Irish speaking communities from all over Ireland and challenge them to begin to use their native tongue in daily routines. Cameras will descend on the competing towns as they prepare to hold a festival day using only the Irish language. Windmill Lane has supplied crew for the production. The production has used a convoy truck from OBS and CCTV footage of the town festivals is being overseen by Damien Clifford.
Judges on the series include former Minster and TD Mary Hanafin, Kila musician Rossa Ó Snodaigh and Irish language activist Lorcán MacGabhann. The series will be edited in house at Adare Productions by Stephen Doran. Phase one of filming on the series has finished with phase two of the filming (Quarter and Semi-finals) beginning in September. A live final will be held on 12th March. The series received funding from the BAI and will be broadcast on Sunday evenings on TG4 in January 2012.
