Two-time Academy Award winning writer/director/producer and animation legend John Lasseter will be the subject of IFTA’s next In Conversation With… event which will take place on Monday 25th July.
The special Irish Film & Television Academy (IFTA) event will include a Q&A with John Lasseter and producer of ‘Cars 2’, Denise Ream which will follow a screening of Lasseter’s latest animated film ‘Cars 2’. The event will be chaired by film critic and journalist Paul Byrne.
John Lasseter creatively oversees all films and associated projects from Walt Disney and Pixar animation Studios. His impressive resumé of work includes executive producing credits on ‘Monsters Inc.’, ‘Finding Nemo’, ‘Ratatouille’, ‘The Incredibles’, ‘Wall E’, ‘Bolt’ and ‘Up’.
Lasseter’s directorial debut ‘Toy Story’ was the first ever feature-length computer-animated film. It was also the first animated film to be nominated for Best Original Screenplay at the Academy Awards as well as earning John Lasseter a Special Achievement Oscar for his leadership of the ‘Toy Story’ team. Other honours awarded to John Lasseter include A Lifetime Achievement Award from the 66th Venice International Film Festival in 2009, the David O. Selznick Achievement Achievement Award in Motion Pictures from the Producer’s Guild of America in 2010 and an honorary degree from the American Film Institute.
The In Conversation With…John Lasseter event will take place on Monday July 25th at Dublin’s Cineworld on Parnell Street at 6pm. This event is free for Members of IFTA – for further information about joining IFTA visit www.ifta.ie
