Suppliers of post technology, Tyrell CCT have provided solutions for post production on HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones’ including Avid editing, finishing and audio post production systems, storage solutions from Avid, Facilis & Rorke Data and archiving systems from Cache-A.
Belfast’s Yellow Moon and Dublin’s Screen Scene are responsible for post-production on HBO’s series ‘Game of Thrones’. The massive Belfast based Yellow Moon were selected for the offline edit and dallies delivery on the series. To deal with the large workload Tyrell CCT set up the customised post studio in Yellow Moon’s Belfast facility and were involved with the transfer of material and set up at Screen Scene in Dublin. Tyrell also provided telephone and onsite support throughout the post process.
Yellow Moon’s managing director, Greg Darby commented, “Game Of Thrones was by far the largest television production ever filmed in Northern Ireland. It was crucial we had an infrastructure and support network to match the scale of the series and in Tyrell and Avid we found that support.”
Commenting on the post-production north/south collaboration on ‘Game of Thrones’ Bryan Malone from Tyrell CCT said it was a reason for “Ireland to celebrate. As the only Avid reseller in Ireland that supports both video and audio we were delighted to add our expertise to the project. We look forward to expanding our portfolio of high-end broadcast projects as more international productions are located in Ireland.”
Based on the popular book series ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ by George R.R. Martin, ‘Game of Thrones’ was premiered in April to the UK and Ireland on Sky Atlantic. The second series of ‘Game of Thrones’ is due to shoot in July on location in Northern Ireland and in Belfast’s Paint Hall Studio.
